Biography:

In concert with F.A. Davis senior management, Mitchell Lapides has been instrumental in conceptualizing, developing, designing, and building out the concept of DavisPTnetwork (http://www.davisptnetwork.com). Mitch, President and CEO of FulcrumTech (http://www.fulcrumtech.net), is an accomplished senior online business executive who has brought a deep set of experience in online publishing, marketing, and technology to DavisPTnetwork.  

Bio Overview

Mitch has over 20 years of experience in strategic planning, product development, marketing, and business development in the publishing, pharmaceutical/healthcare, and software industries. He has achieved several financial and organizational turnarounds in the Internet space.  In addition, he has successfully managed more than 100 publishing and Web-site development projects from concept through launch.  In 2004, Mitch created FulcrumTech to combine the principals of publishing and marketing to drive powerful, measurable marketing results for clients using email and supporting Web capabilities.  

Experience Summary

Prior to founding FulcrumTech, Mitch was Executive Vice President and Executive Board Member at Reed Elsevier ($9 billion global publisher of Lexis Nexis, Cahners, Harcourt) where he led over 35% annual growth in their healthcare electronic products division.  Product groups included online education, medicine (http://www.mdconsult.com), nursing, and online journals.  Individual products ranged from industry-leading handheld solutions to hard-hitting online educational and clinical research sites. 

He has also held the positions of Group Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Gartner (NYSE:  IT) where he was responsible for the turnaround of a key infrastructure and applications development group and then for the transformation and rebuilding of gartner.com, the delivery channel for over $400 million in revenue.  The new gartner.com successfully incorporated an innovative search and browse capability (built upon a customized document taxonomy) while also delivering upon a new product marketing and subscription strategy. 

Earlier in his career, Mitch oversaw the growth of several new technology-based businesses at a variety of firms in the library, scientific, healthcare (e.g. Springhouse Corporation, U.S. Pharmacopeia), and technology industries. 

Mitch has a B.A. in Biology from Brandeis University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He graduated with high honors from both.  

Apart from his professional activities, Mitch enjoys playing classical piano, skiing, tennis, weight lifting, and coaching youth soccer teams.
