The Kinesio® Taping Method 1 & 2
Description: KT1 Fundamental Concepts, Screening/Muscle Test, & Muscle Applications (To be taken in conjunction with KT2) The KT1 course is designed to introduce the Kinesio® Taping Method.
Learn the fundamental concepts of the Kinesio® Taping Method and the unique properties and use of Kinesio® Tex Tape. Lab sessions provide ample time to practice screening and muscle testing created for the enhancement of your KT skills and muscle applications for both the upper and lower body. Upon completion of KT1, participants will be able to apply the Kinesio® Taping Method to relax overuse syndromes, stimulate weak muscles and decrease pain and swelling.
KT2 Advanced Concepts & Corrective Techniques Upon completion qualifies for KTA Level 2 Membership
KT2 builds on material learned in KT1. Learn about the six Corrective Techniques (Mechanical, Functional, Space, Fascia, Ligament/Tendon and Lymphatic) and discuss their application in a variety of clinical conditions. Lab sessions, provide ample time to practice applying these techniques to a variety of upper and lower body conditions. Upon completion of KT2, participants will be able to discuss and apply the KT Method to orthopedic & neurological conditions.
Note: Participants who successfully complete the required Fundamental and Advanced Kinesio Taping® (KT1, KT2, & KT3) courses are eligible to take the Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP) exam through the KinesioTaping Association (KTAI). Upon passing this exam with a score of 80% or better, practitioners will be granted the CKTP title along with all the associated rights and benefits.

- Explain and apply the concepts of the Kinesio Taping Method.
- Describe the unique qualities of the Kinesio Tex® Tape.
- Understand the principles of Kinesio Tex® Tape application.
- Utilize and demonstrate application skills in guided laboratory sessions.
- Describe the various cutting techniques and their clinical applications.
- Apply a time-efficient method to decrease muscle spasm, pain and swelling.
- Apply various taping techniques for treatment of the spine and upper / lower extremity dysfunction.

Instructor name: Rosemary Schrauth, OTR, CLT, CKTI
Instructor bio: Rosemary Schrauth is a clinician and educator at Cedar Haven Rehabilitation Services in WI. She specializes in myofascial release and lymphedema treatment. Rosemary has taken many courses in myofascial release, other soft tissue techniques and kinesiotaping and successfully incorporates these techniques into the treatment of edema and lymphedema. Ms. Schrauth became a certified lymphedema therapist in 1998 and a certified kinesiotaping instructor in 2003 and updated in 2008. She presents courses nationally on MFR, Manual Edema Mobilization and Kinesiotaping. She has been a guest speaker at Mount Mary College and Concordia University and a visiting clinical instructor at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She has written articles on the use of kinesiotape in the treatment of lymphedema.
